BlueBrixx Rabbit Hutch Set 107416
BlueBrixx's Rabbit Hutch is a BlueBrixx Play set built from 149 blocks, released September 2024 with a printed manual and building sections.
The German name is Hasengehege — enclosure, not hutch
That distinction is not pedantry, and the set is built the right way round because of it.
For most of the twentieth century a pet rabbit lived in a wooden box on legs, roughly a metre wide, and that was considered normal. It is now understood to be close to the worst thing you can do to the animal. A rabbit's natural range is measured in thousands of square metres; it needs to run, and it needs to stand fully upright on its hind legs without touching anything.
German animal welfare guidance has reflected that for years: a hutch alone is regarded as inadequate housing, and the recommendation for two rabbits is an enclosure of at least six square metres with permanent access, not an hour in the garden on Sundays.
So the German product name says Gehege — enclosure — and the model is a run with a shelter in it, rather than a box. A small thing, and a genuine change in how a common pet is kept.
What it is
149 pieces is around half an hour, which makes it one of the smallest sets in the Play range and a sensible first one. BlueBrixx Play is the company's line for children rather than collectors: manageable piece counts, clear instructions, and everyday scenes.
