BlueBrixx Pizza Delivery Set 107743
BlueBrixx's Pizza Delivery is a BlueBrixx Play set built from 135 blocks, measuring 10.9 Γ 5.8 Γ 6.5 cm assembled β a three-wheeled Italian-style delivery vehicle with opening front doors and a rear hatch. One figure. Pizza boxes and tricolour graphics are printed; no stickers. Released 2024.
Three wheels, and Italian cities are the reason
The little three-wheeled van is not a novelty. It is a specific answer to streets laid out before anyone imagined a delivery vehicle.
An Italian historic centre has lanes two metres wide, blind corners, steps, and a ZTL β a zona a traffico limitato, where ordinary vehicles are banned outright and cameras issue fines automatically. A normal van cannot physically get in, and would not be allowed to if it could.
A three-wheeler fits. It is narrow enough for the lanes, turns in almost its own length, weighs little enough to be classed as a light vehicle with lower restrictions, and in many cities is permitted inside the ZTL where a car is not.
The Piaggio Ape β ape means bee, and it was built on the Vespa, the wasp β appeared in 1948 to move goods in a country with no money and no roads worth the name. It is still in production, and it is still how a great deal of what is sold in an Italian old town arrives there.
