BlueBrixx Modern Family House Set 107587

BlueBrixx's Modern Family House is a BlueBrixx Play set built from 837 blocks, measuring 30 × 17 × 22 cm assembled — a two-storey house with kitchen, dining area, living room, two bedrooms and a bathroom, plus a garden with swing, sandbox, bench and patio. Four figures are included, two adults and two children. All decoration is printed; no stickers. Age 6+, released August 2024.

Every model house has the same missing wall

A house with four walls and a roof is, from the outside, a box. Everything the set spent its pieces on — the kitchen, the beds, the bathroom — is invisible the moment it is finished.

So model houses cheat, and they have done since the first dolls' houses of the seventeenth century. The back is left open, or a wall hinges, or the roof lifts, or the whole building splits down the middle. There is no solution that is not a compromise: an open back means the house only works from one side, a hinge means a visible seam, a lift-off roof means the upper floor is only reachable by dismantling.

It is a genuinely hard design problem, and how a manufacturer solves it tells you what the set is for. A display model can afford a sealed back and a photogenic front. A set meant to be played with cannot — a child needs to reach in, and reaching in is the whole point.
