2011 Upper Deck MLS Soccer Hobby Box | 20 Packs | Factory Sealed

Twenty packs of twelve cards, with one autograph and four memorabilia cards guaranteed in every box. The 2011 Upper Deck MLS set has a 200-card base set: 175 Major League Soccer players, 12 players from Women's Professional Soccer, 10 MLS SuperDraft rookies and 3 WPS SuperDraft rookies. It was released on April 19, 2011.

One of those three WPS SuperDraft cards is card #198, Alex Morgan's rookie card. The Western New York Flash had taken her with the first overall pick of the WPS Draft on January 14, 2011. When this set reached stores three months later, she had not yet scored as a professional — her first goal for the Flash came on May 1, 2011. That season the Flash won the WPS title with Morgan alongside Marta and Christine Sinclair, and that summer she became the youngest player on the US team at the Women's World Cup. Card #198 is part of the regular base set, so it can turn up in any box. Her SuperDraft autograph, WSD-AM, is part of the autograph pool as well.

The MLS side of the checklist carries the first Upper Deck MLS cards of Thierry Henry, Rafa Márquez, Nery Castillo and Juan Agudelo. The autograph in each box is an MLS Marks card numbered to 50 or fewer, a WPS Marks card numbered to 100 or fewer, a WPS Dual Marks card numbered to 25 or fewer, or a SuperDraft Signatures card. The four memorabilia cards come from MLS and WPS Materials, Teammates duals numbered to 75, National Pride triples and Superstars quads numbered to 50, and the Premium Series with patch material, numbered down to 10.

The retail version of this set is a different box with fewer hits; the contents described here apply to the hobby box only. The 2010 edition of the same set, with the WPS All Stars of the league's second season, is also in our catalog, as is SP Game Used Soccer from January 2012, where Morgan appears again. The 2012 edition, Upper Deck's last MLS set, and the 2013 Topps MLS box that followed it complete the run.
