Upper Deck
2011/12 Upper Deck SPx Hockey Hobby Box | 18 Packs | Factory Sealed
SPx was always the loud one in Upper Deck's line-up — holograms, die-cuts, jersey swatches paired two and three at a time, and the Shadow Box cards that collectors chased for years. The 2011/12 edition brings all of it back and adds the Finite name to the roster for the first time.
An average box carries seven hits, and the guaranteed core of them is specific: one autographed rookie jersey card, one rookie jersey or rookie materials card, a Winning Materials dual-swatch, a Winning Combos dual-swatch, an Ice Premieres rookie, and two sequentially numbered inserts. The Ice cards continue on from Black Diamond, with the Ice Premieres rookies laddering from 1999 copies down to 99.
Above that sit the cards worth opening for. Autographed Winning Materials are numbered to 15, Autographed Winning Combos to just 5, and the Winning Combos patch parallels to 15. The new SPx Finite Rookies run in three levels down to 99 copies, each with a Spectrum parallel numbered one of one. The Shadow Box cards — including the Stoppers, Programme of Excellence and signed versions — fall roughly once per case.
The rookie class covers Gabriel Landeskog, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Sean Couturier, Ryan Johansen, Adam Larsson, Cody Hodgson, Erik Gudbranson, Zack Kassian and Jake Gardiner. Released on 8 May 2012. This box is new and factory sealed.
Every box holds 18 packs of four cards plus a bonus pack — around seven hits.
