2006 Upper Deck MLS Soccer Box | 24 Packs | Factory Sealed

Twenty-four packs of five cards, with two game-used jersey cards per box on average. The 2006 Upper Deck MLS set has a 100-card base set covering Major League Soccer's eleventh season and was released on July 26, 2006 — the last Upper Deck MLS set before David Beckham's arrival in the league.

It came out midway through the first season of the Houston Dynamo, a club that had not existed a year earlier. On December 15, 2005, the owners of the San Jose Earthquakes moved the team's players and staff to Houston after failing to secure a soccer-specific stadium in San Jose; the name and history stayed behind, and the Earthquakes returned as an expansion club in 2008. The new club won the title at the first attempt: on November 12, 2006 in Frisco, Texas, Houston and the New England Revolution drew 1–1 after extra time, with both goals 71 seconds apart, and the Dynamo won 4–3 in the first penalty shootout in MLS Cup history. Brian Ching scored the equalizer and the winning penalty.

The memorabilia side has MLS Jerseys, MLS Dual Jerseys numbered to 50 and MLS Triple Jerseys numbered to 25. Autographs are scarce — about one per case on average, so most boxes contain none: MLS Signatures numbered to 25, MLS Auto Jersey cards numbered to 15 and MLS Dual Auto Jersey cards numbered to 5. The inserts are MLS Leaders, MLS Champions and MLS History, one per pack on average across the three.

With this box the store carries every Upper Deck MLS edition from 2006 to 2012 — including the 2007 set with Beckham's first MLS card and the 2009 set from the season of Real Salt Lake's unlikely title — as well as Upper Deck's SP Game Used Soccer from January 2012 and the 2013 Topps MLS box that followed when the league's license moved to Topps.
