A hundred pieces is a real category

It is easy to treat a small set as a lesser version of a big one. It is not, and the difference is worth knowing if you are buying for a child.

A 700-piece model is a project. It needs a table, a clear afternoon, somewhere safe to leave it half-finished, and an adult on hand when a step goes wrong. For a five-year-old that is not a pleasure, it is an obligation.

A hundred pieces is twenty minutes. The child starts it and finishes it in one sitting, alone, and has something to play with at the end rather than something to be careful with. That is a different experience entirely, and for a first set it is the right one.

It also travels. A small vehicle goes in a bag and survives being handled, which almost nothing from the Historical Collection does.

Which range this is

Small Army is COBI's older and simpler line: no modelling scale, no specific vehicle behind the design, built for play. The Wolverine is a generic light military vehicle rather than a reproduction of anything.
