BlueBrixx Western Station Set 19009
BlueBrixx's Western Station is a BlueBrixx-Pro model built from 1,416 blocks, measuring 25 Γ 24 Γ 38 cm assembled. Designed by Xingbao, with parts in six bags and a printed manual. The set includes 8 stickers alongside 13 printed elements. Age 14+.
The station came first, then the town
In Europe railways were built to connect places that already existed. In the American West it worked the other way round.
The transcontinental and its branch lines were laid across territory with almost nobody in it, and the companies needed stations at regular intervals β for water, for coal, for crew changes. So a depot was put down in open country, and whatever grew up around it became the town.
That is why so many Western towns have the same layout: a single main street running parallel to the track, with the depot at one end and the buildings facing it. And it is why the railroad's decision about where to stop could make or destroy a settlement β a town bypassed by a few miles simply emptied, and there are hundreds of them.
The station was also the only connection to anywhere else. Mail, newspapers, ordered goods, new arrivals and anyone leaving all passed through it. In a place with one street, it was the street's reason to exist.
A note on the stickers
Unlike most BlueBrixx-Pro sets, this one uses eight stickers as well as printed parts. Worth knowing if sticker-free construction matters to you β it is a consequence of the set being a Xingbao design rather than an in-house BlueBrixx one.
In the BlueBrixx range
Sets 103410 (Saloon), 103411 (Bank) and 103412 (Farm) are the other Wild West buildings, designed to stand alongside this one as a town.
