COBI Water Patrol Set 2163

COBI's Water Patrol is built from 140 blocks, 18 cm long: an inflatable-style patrol boat with a machine gun and a searchlight, plus a small jet ski. Two figures are included, a soldier and a diver, with flippers, a harpoon, an oxygen cylinder and a mask with snorkel. Part of the Small Army range.

The diver's kit is the reason to buy this one

COBI makes a great many soldiers. It makes almost no divers, and the accessories in this box — flippers, cylinder, mask, snorkel, harpoon — are not supplied in any other set at this price.

If you build dioramas, that matters more than the boat does. A diver figure lets you do things no land scene can: a beach, a harbour, a wreck, a rescue. And the parts are compatible with everything else COBI makes, so the figure works alongside the Historical Collection ships and boats as readily as with this one.

The searchlight on the boat is the other useful part — a piece that turns up in very few sets.

Which range this is

Small Army is COBI's older and simpler line: no modelling scale, no real vessel behind the design, and the emphasis on play rather than on reproducing something specific. It is a different product from the 1:35 and 1:300 ships with museum licences.
