Qman's Laser Sniper is built from 336 blocks — a combat vehicle that also builds as a robot figure, and one of the four Trans-Collector sets that form the Roaring Flame God General. Age 6+.

One quarter of a larger robot

Sets 41301 Flame Blade Raider, 41302 Iron Fist Commander, 41303 Flying Bombing Soldier and 41304 (this one) are four separate boxes. Each builds a complete model on its own, and each is also one section of a larger combined robot. Set 41305 contains all four together, 1,201 pieces in one box.

Every robot team has a sniper, and it is a storytelling device

Look at any combining robot series and the roles repeat: a leader, a heavy, a flier, a scout, a sniper. That is not laziness. It is the only way to make five interchangeable machines feel like five characters.

A team whose members all do the same thing has no reason to be a team. Give each one a specialism and every episode can be built around which of them is needed — and the audience, mostly children, learns to identify with one. Merchandising follows immediately: a child who likes the sniper wants the sniper, and then wants the other four so the sniper has somewhere to belong.

The sniper specifically is the one who works alone and at distance, which makes him the outsider of the group. That role has been in these series since the 1970s, and it is almost always the one children pick.
