COBI's Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 in red is a 1:35 model of the classic short-wheelbase Land Cruiser, built from 138 blocks under an official Toyota license.

A name forced by a trademark

Toyota's first postwar four-wheel-drive vehicle was sold as the Toyota Jeep. The name did not last. Jeep was a registered trademark of Willys-Overland in the United States, and Toyota had to drop it. In June 1954 the vehicle was renamed Land Cruiser, a name proposed by Toyota's director of technology, Hanji Umehara.

The new name was chosen with a competitor in mind, Britain's Land Rover, and it has outlasted almost everything else Toyota makes: the Land Cruiser is the company's longest-running model series. The FJ40, introduced in 1960, is the version most people picture when they hear it.

Set 24695 is the same FJ40 in blue, and set 24693 is an expedition version with a figure. The Willys MB (3133) is the American original whose name Toyota had to give up, in the same 1:35 scale.
