COBI's Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 Expedition is a 1:35 model of the classic short-wheelbase Land Cruiser, built from 238 blocks under an official Toyota license and equipped for an expedition, with one figure.

Sixth station on Mount Fuji

The Land Cruiser's reputation was made before it had its name. In July 1951, Toyota test driver Ichiro Taira drove the prototype of its predecessor, the Toyota BJ, up the trail on Mount Fuji to the sixth of the mountain's ten stations. No motor vehicle had ever climbed that high on the mountain.

The climb changed the vehicle's fortunes. Japan's National Police Reserve, for which it had been developed, chose a different design, but the National Police Agency ordered a fleet as patrol cars, and forestry and utility agencies followed. The FJ40 of 1960 is a direct descendant of that prototype.
