COBI Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 Red Set 24691

COBI's Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 in red is a 1:35 model of Toyota's customer rally car, built from 98 blocks under an official Toyota license.

The Yaris that was not supposed to have three doors

When Toyota developed the current Yaris, it decided to sell it with five doors only, because three-door hatchbacks were no longer selling. For the rally team that was a real problem. A rally car has to be built on the bodyshell of a production car, and the team considered only a three-door body suitable for competition.

Toyota's chief executive Akio Toyoda approved a separate road car to solve it: the GR Yaris, with its own three-door body, a lower roofline, four-wheel drive and a rear end taken from the larger Corolla. It is a road car that exists because of a rally car, and the Rally2 version modeled here is built on that body.

In the COBI range

Set 24692 is the same car in black, and set 24690 places it at the finish line with a figure. The Subaru Impreza WRX STI (24649) comes from an earlier generation of rally-bred road cars, also at 1:35.
