COBI Jagdpanzer 38(t) Hetzer Set 2558 (Damaged Box)

COBI's Jagdpanzer 38(t) Hetzer is built from 555 blocks, 20.5 cm long, with working tracks, opening hatches and two figures — a crew member and a gunner with a heavy machine gun.

Condition

This set is sold at a reduced price because the outer box is damaged — it may have holes, creases or crushed corners. The contents are brand new, sealed and complete. If you are building the model rather than collecting sealed boxes, the only difference is the price.

Cheap, low, and extremely uncomfortable

The gun was mounted to the right of centre in a hull designed for a light tank, and there was no turret — so it could traverse only about 5 degrees left and 11 right. Anything outside that wedge meant turning the whole vehicle.

Four men shared a compartment sized for two. The loader worked in a space so tight that loading was slow, and the commander had almost no vision to his right because the gun was in the way.

None of that was an oversight. Germany in 1944 needed anti-tank vehicles quickly from a chassis already in production, and every compromise bought speed and cost. Over 2,500 were built in about a year — more than all Tiger and Tiger II production combined.
