COBI Flying Bulls P-51D Mustang 1:32 Set 26633

COBI's Flying Bulls P-51D Mustang is a 1:32 model of the Mustang flown by the Flying Bulls, Red Bull's collection of historic aircraft in Salzburg, built from 353 blocks under license from Red Bull and Boeing, with a pilot figure.

An arrival with an escort

For years the Flying Bulls collection had no Mustang, and the chance to buy one came from France: a well-kept P-51D that had been a regular at European air shows for around twenty years under the name “Nooky Booky IV”, painted in honor of Major Leonard “Kit” Carson, the leading ace of the 357th Fighter Group.

The purchase was completed in March 2021, and the aircraft flew to Salzburg. It did not arrive alone. The Flying Bulls sent two of their own fighters to meet it, the P-38 Lightning and the F4U-4 Corsair, so that three American fighters of the same war came in together — by the Flying Bulls' own account, a formation probably unique in European skies.

Set 26631 is the same Flying Bulls Mustang at the smaller 1:48 scale, and set 26634 is the Flying Bulls Corsair at 1:32. The P-51D in Top Gun: Maverick markings (5846) is another privately owned Mustang at this scale.
