BlueBrixx Universe Stargate Set 108574

BlueBrixx's Universe Stargate is an officially licensed BlueBrixx-Pro model built from 62 blocks, measuring 9.8 × 5.8 × 6.7 cm assembled, with a rotating outer ring and a planetary ramp. All detail is printed — no stickers. Age 8+.

This is the oldest gate design of the three

Stargate Universe is set on a ship the Ancients launched before most of the events of the other two series, and its gates are correspondingly early work. The shop now carries all three generations at a similar size, which makes the comparison easy to see.

Universe — this one. Smaller, with the chevrons arranged around a ring that turns bodily. It looks cruder, and it is meant to.

Milky Way — set 109672. The familiar gate: a heavy inner ring that rotates while the outer chevrons lock down on each symbol in turn, with the grinding sound everyone recognises.

Pegasus — set 109673. The latest design, built after the Ancients left this galaxy. Nothing moves at all: the symbols light up in sequence on a stationary ring.

Three gates, three mechanisms, in the order they were built. It is one of the more disciplined pieces of world-building in television science fiction, and it is unusually easy to display, because each gate is about the size of a coffee mug.

Sixty-two pieces with a working ring

The rotating ring is the notable part at this size. A moving mechanism in a model this small means the tolerances have to be right — a ring that binds or falls off is worse than one that is fixed.
