The other castle system, and the one to start with
BlueBrixx makes two modular castles, and they are not alternatives to each other. Knowing which is which saves a great deal of money.
Blaustein (set 102818) is the large one: 5,250 pieces in the base model alone, expansions that must be built in a fixed order, and a complex that passes 33,000 pieces when complete. It is a multi-year project and the expansions modify what is already built.
Bear Rock is the approachable one. 1,610 pieces, 281 steps, three sections β a weekend rather than a season. The segments can be recombined in different ways rather than following a sequence, so the castle you end up with is genuinely arranged by you.
If you have never built a castle of this size, this is where to begin. If you know you want the enormous one, Blaustein is a different purchase and the two do not connect.
GoBricks, and why builders mention it
The parts are made by GoBricks, and the thing reviewers consistently note is clutch power β how firmly one brick holds another.
On a structure of this size that matters more than it sounds. Castle walls are tall, thin and unsupported, and a model that flexes when lifted is a model that comes apart when moved. High clutch makes the finished castle feel solid rather than fragile.
The trade-off is that parts are harder to separate again, which is worth knowing if you expect to rebuild sections.
In the BlueBrixx range
Set 105545 is the Bear Rock Castle Keep, the first expansion, with further modules in sets 105653 and 105654. Sets 102818, 104953 and 105236 are the separate Blaustein system, which does not connect to this one.
