Most trading card releases are measured in cases. Rittenhouse's Star Trek: Lower Decks Limited Edition is measured in packs: 600 of them, in total, worldwide. This is what is inside one, and why buying five changes what you get.
One pack
Each pack holds 21 cards: 4 autograph cards, 1 sketch card, 3 sticker cards, 3 character cards and 10 episode cards. Five of the 21 are hits, and there is no base set to dig through on the way to them.
That is why a single pack costs what a box of another set costs. The contents are the same kind of cards; they have simply not been diluted.
Five packs
The 5-pack collector bundle is built differently. It guarantees the complete autograph set and adds an exclusive Studio Animator sketch card, drawn by an artist who works on the show itself.
A guaranteed complete set is almost unheard of in trading cards, because the chase is usually what sells the product. With 600 packs in existence there is no mass market to build a chase around, so Rittenhouse sells the finished collection instead.
The voices
Lower Decks is animated, which makes the signer list a list of voices: Tawny Newsome (Beckett Mariner), Eugene Cordero (Sam Rutherford), Noel Wells (D'Vana Tendi), Dawnn Lewis (Captain Freeman), Fred Tatasciore (Shaxs), Gillian Vigman (Dr. T'Ana) — and John de Lancie as Q, a part he has now played across four Star Trek series and thirty-five years, in live action and in animation.
Eight character sticker cards and nine character expansion cards complete the ancillary sets. The collector album comes with a promo card that is issued only with the album.
