2022 Upper Deck AEW All Elite Wrestling Hobby Box | 16 Packs | Factory Sealed

The checklist on this box names CM Punk as AEW World Champion. By the time it reached shops on 30 November 2022, Punk had not appeared for AEW in almost three months. He won the title at All Out on 4 September, used the press conference afterwards to go after Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks, and a backstage fight followed; on 7 September Tony Khan vacated the championship. Punk was suspended and did not come back. Omega and the Young Bucks, the other side of that fight, are on the same checklist, also listed as champions. The box preserves a state of affairs that had already collapsed before it shipped.

Each hobby box holds 16 packs of 8 cards. The 100-card base set is split into three subsets — Wrestlers 1–80, Tag Teams 81–90, Crew 91–100 — with CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, Chris Jericho, Jon Moxley, Sting, Kenny Omega, the Young Bucks, Hangman Adam Page, Britt Baker, Jade Cargill, Thunder Rosa, Adam Cole, Wardlow and Kris Statlander among the roster.

Box break, on average:

The memorabilia here is ring mat rather than jersey. Gold Mat cards fall 1:45 packs and the Mat Red versions are numbered to 50, 25 or 10 depending on the subset. Autographs run from 1:216 packs in the Wrestlers subset out to 1:3072 for Tag Teams, with Pyro Auto numbered to 25, Dynamite Auto to 5, and Gold Auto and Printing Plate Auto as one-of-ones. The AEW Breakouts inserts are printed on acetate.

One thing to be clear about: the Jumbo Mat Relic Signatures — oversized cards of 3 by 5 inches, numbered to 10, carrying a large mat swatch and a hard-signed autograph — were never inserted into packs. What a pack could hold was a redemption card to be mailed in for one.
