But that gun was a 3.7 cm Flak 43, and by 1944 German crews had found that 2 cm shells were not powerful enough to bring down the heavily built Allied ground-attack aircraft reliably. The larger gun had more range and hit much harder, and it needed fewer men to serve it.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAn order for 100 was placed in August 1944.
