Audi's five-cylinder turbo produced a quoted 470 horsepower in a car that weighed barely 1,100 kilograms, and the wings bolted to each end were there because the car had become too fast to stay planted without them. Walter Röhrl took it to victory at the San Remo Rally in 1985. Group B was cancelled at the end of the following year after a series of fatal accidents, which left the S1 E2 with a competition career of barely two seasons — part of why it is remembered as it is.
